Taguig Levels Up Vaccination Rollout, Integrates Tuberculosis(TB) Screening with its Community Vaccination Center

The City Government of Taguig set up a free TB screening program at EM’s Signal Village Elementary School Community Vaccination Center at Barangay Central Signal from July 25 until end of August. The program aims to actively detect a person with tuberculosis through Active Case Finding (ACF). Vaccinees will undergo X-ray examination and treatment will be offered free of charge.

In partnership with USAID’s TB Platforms and DOH National Tuberculosis Control program, it is also part of the city’s support in the campaign to find and treat 2.5 million Filipinos living with Tuberculosis by 2022.

Amidst the pandemic, Taguig City remains committed to health empowerment despite the limitations posed by the surge of COVID-19 cases.

Lung complications are one of the main causes of death among Filipinos. To commemorate the National Lung Month every August, this year’s theme is “Ayos Ka Lungs?: Integrating COVID-19 response and TB elimination efforts”. The celebration aims to properly address other public health concerns such as Tuberculosis.
